Tinne Van der Straeten has a Master in African Languages and Cultures and a Master of Laws.
In 2007 she got elected to the federal parliament of which she was a member until 2010.
After that she started working as a lawyer at Blixt. A boutique law firm where she gained 9 years of experience in the energy sector.
In 2018 she became alderman of Public Works in Koekelberg. A few months later she was re-elected to the federal parliament.
After a long period of government formation, she became Minister of Energy in October 2019.
Her expertise in energy is highly respected. People know her as a woman who tries to find common ground and build bridges between people, no matter what their conviction or political membership.
She works on the energy transition with passion and expertise.
Tinne Van der Straeten lives in Brussels.
She was a board member for many organizations, such as the King Baudoin Foundation and the Centre of General Welfare of Brussels. Positions she quit wen she was appointed as minister of Energy.
She’s a mother of two.
