Far-reaching transformations of cities towards climate neutrality are unavoidable. They will only be effective basing on close interconnection of science, economy and society. The EU-wide Living Labs Europe Competition LLEC aims to transform cities in a climate-neutral way, to mobilise Europe in this concern and to increase the renovation rate of buildings.
Project Management Juelich proposed LLEC as an innovative funding approach on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Discussing together with European partners, DUTP and SET Plan IWG5, the impact of LLEC as ground for broad acceptance in society and its function as realisation lab for transformation became evident.
